Missions Prayer Focus this Friday

This Friday night we're going to have a special prayer focus on "Missions & the Persecuted Church." Our special guests Candy Giles and Sansanee, or Sandy, Suwaratana, are going to share with us their experiences growing up in missionary families. Candy is going to share a video clip of the "missionary story of the century" about Jim Elliot, Nate Saint, and the families who went to Ecuador to share the Gospel with a remote, once-violent Indian tribe. We'll talk about some of the missionaries connected to Bethel who are spread out all over the world, and discuss how "martyrdom is not morbid." And then, of course, we'll get to pray for the things we learn about & discuss!

We're going to meet at 9 p.m. in Room 301 at Bethel. You can enter through doors on Anson Pl. that are nearest to the corner of East & Anson.
Hope you can make it!

Go ahead...Declare it to the Heavenlies!!!

It was a cold, wet October night when I arrived at the prayer room to talk to the 8 young adults present about the power of declaring to the heavenlies. The agenda that was given to me showed that I was to instruct on, impart and activate prophetic prayer with those that were present, and then we were to go out and do some prophetic evangelism.

Outside...the raindrops continued to fall, lessening our hopes of street ministry. Inside...we eventually got over the disappointment, and as the fire of the Holy Spirit increased more and more so did the group present and we ended up with about 20 hungry young adults!!! By the time the evening was over, we had prophesied over one another declared God's words over Rochester. I sensed in my spirit that God had granted breakthrough that night to the group as a whole and there was a commissioning to continue to pray prophetically for our city!

So, is God calling you to pray and stand in the gap for Rochester and New York? What could you do about it? After all, you are only 1 person and can't do much...right? WRONG!!!

I would like to remind all of you the Scripture that we studied on that night. Ephesians 3:10 says "to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places"

Did you get that? We the church (that's you and me) are to declare to the powers in the heavenly places, the manifold wisdom of God. How do you do that? Easy. As you pray for Rochester or a region, just ask God to speak to you His thoughts. Then you declare God's thoughts with mountain-moving faith! As we release the powerful prayer decrees, it goes forth like explosions in the spiritual realm pushing back the powers of darkness and establishing God's will over an area. What happens next is that God's will is established in the spiritual realm first, and then it manifests itself into the natural realm where it could be seen. (To understand this more, read about Jesus cursing the fig tree.)

So next time you see something going on in the city, state, or region that disapoints you, rather than speaking your disapointment out loud, go to prayer about it and ask the Lord for His thoughts. As God speaks...go ahead and DECLARE IT TO THE HEAVENLIES!!! :-)

The Wind

The Wind gusts outside my window tonight
it seems furious & fearful
pushing against the glass
as I burrow beneath the covers.

Though the night is dark
The Wind does not blow for the wicked;
It roars for the righteous.
Like Acts 4, The Wind trumpets the entrance of the Holy Ghost
Stirring the passion of saints.

For the child of God has received the breath of God
walking, running
breathing in deeply
the living breath of Yahweh
exhaling the life that is in the Son
exclaiming, "life forevermore!"

So I do not fear The Wind;
I welcome The Wind.
I turn my face to the North and South,
and cry "Come!"
Come surround, encircle me.
Go before me and behind me
As a shield of powerful anointing.

The Wind stirs the water;
It bears witness to the Blood.
It blows where it wishes,
and I hear the sound of it
this night.

The Bread of Life & the Garbage Plate

Yes, you are looking at what many Rochesterians would consider the "world famous" garbage plate invented at Nick Tahou's in Rochester, NY. Mmmm...among other things, this was our sending off gift to the Onething Team, who came to Rochester from the International House of Prayer in Kansas City for a regional conference.

Over 600 youth, young adults, and the "young-at-heart" came together from New York and many surrounding states, including Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire to worship God. The team from Kansas City offered a freedom & purity in worship that allowed us to corporately enter into the Throne Room of Heaven to worship God. Dwayne Roberts and Becky Tirabassi fed us with the Word of God to teach us about the beauty and love of God which calls us to a higher level of intimacy and devotion to Him and personal holiness in the midst of a dark world.

There were also many testimonies of youth who gave their hearts to Christ or rededicated themselves to a greater devotion to Him. Many received personal prayer and ministry that broke off chains and set them free from sin & shame to new life & joy in Christ. We heard of many testimonies of youth being set free from self-hatred & shame as well as freedom from addictions to pornography and eating disorders. In just 2 days of ministry, many left with lives that will be changed forever.

Thanks Onething for the vision and passion that you inspire & impart to us to be a generation of "one thing"! We are so grateful that you came to Rochester to deposit your anointing to the hearts of the people in our region!

It is time for us to step up to the plate.

The future leaders of the world come to American universities to study. The U.S. State Dept. estimates that 25% of the world’s future political leaders are studying in the U.S. right now. The cultural trends and movements that start at our colleges flow like waves across the globe. If you want to change the world, start at the university.

Imagine a place filled with idealistic, talented, and available young adults who have the passion and energy to fight for whatever cause strikes their hearts. Imagine these young adults being at their most vulnerable point, when they are making decisions for what they will believe and what they will do for the rest of their lives. And imagine God gathering this group of young people together in one place, for a short time, before sending them back to their nations to lead. That place is the American university campus. And those future leaders are the students there today.

The world recognizes this. Why else would so many companies and people, such as MTV and a Saudi prince, pump millions of dollars into youth and young adults? And their investment is most certainly yielding great results. The world is dedicated to investing millions of dollars and countless hours into our universities and our young adults because they know it’s a strategic investment.

But the question for us, the American Church, is: do we recognize this?

Will we continue to enable anything other than Jesus Christ to influence our campuses, and in effect influence the marketplace, our culture, and our every-day lives? Or we will finally step up to plate and do something?

What if we began heavily investing in students and young adults, in both prayer and finances? What if more churches had core values that included targeting young adults and students? What if we sent more missionaries to our own university campuses? And what if we sent these missionaries with the funds they needed to reach our campuses?

The good news: our God is sovereign and through him we can make an eternal difference! We are in a supernatural fight against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Let’s be vigilant in prayer, generous with our finances and time, and increase our Christian witness on our universities and among our young adults. We simply cannot sit by and allow others to influence the eternal destiny of our future generations.

And with God's help, we most certainly can accomplish this great commission. We serve a great and mighty and powerful God!

Answer the High Call!!!

Hello Onething"ers"... :-)

I want to take a moment to encourage all of you radical young adults who are out doing the work of the Lord. Ever since I had the opportunity to share with you on a Friday night regarding Prophetic Evangelism, I have had you all in my heart. I want you to know that the Lord is truly pleased with your effort and your willingness to reach out to others. Actually, that is the High Call that God is extending to you...that you would proclaim His name boldly to this generation.

Just recently, Pastor Katie :-) asked me to view the promo for the Onething Conference that is coming to Rochester. As I was viewing this video I could sense the presence of the Lord strongly in my office. Then I saw a vision. In what seemed like a milli-second, I saw the previous generations pass the baton to this generation. When I saw that, I realized the awesome opportunity that has been extended to YOU!!! Here's your chance to particpate with Christians from previous generations in praying that God establishes His kingdom here on earth! Here's your chance to fix what previous generations messed up.

You have two options: a) Ignore the call and go about your business...or b) Respond to the call to stand in the gap for your generation and allow the Lord to use you as a mighty minister of His word. If you go with option A, I'm afraid that when the years have passed, after it's too late, you'll realize that you dropped the baton. I encourage you to go with option B because although the call is weighty, you have the goods to fulfill the call!!! Grab the baton and run toward the finish line as one who will win in first place.

So...be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might! Could you imagine the things that the next generation will be saying about you guys? Dare to respond!!!
